All this time
The sun never says to the earth,
“You owe Me.”
Look
What happens
With a love like that,
It lights the
Whole
Sky.
~ from The Gift, Poems by Hafiz as translated by Daniel Ladinsky
I love to photograph the sun. Here are a handful from my recent travels ~
This first is from a peaceful afternoon along the Argenton River in the France countryside:

A series of the Sun and the Eiffel Tower in Paris – the first two were taken on a morning sometime in mid-March:

And this one is a late afternoon in April.
While not an actual photo of the sun, I think the sun is implied in the golden color.

Respite Found: a peaceful afternoon in a quiet park in Paris.
This photo would be incomplete without the sun, I think:
A Paris street somewhere near the Sacré Coeur, early April:
As I was posting the above photos, I ran across this one below. It does not really fit the above travel theme, but it is a photo of the sun after a storm on the Oregon coast. It is also a photo of our much loved dog Kona – we lost him to cancer in early March, just before I left for my travels in Europe. So I include his photo with the sun as tribute to a good friend. We miss your crazy-dawg ever-loving presence, Kona-Bean.

May the long time sun shine upon you
May all love surround you ~
And may the pure light within you
Guide your way on.
~ Namaste ~

Leo is a Sun sign – if you believe that
astrology stuff. I’m supposed to have
some connection with it – but don’t we
all?
Well, I don’t know, Rastelly – I’m a capricorn, which is the mountain goat, and I’d rather be in the desert than up on the mountain most days! But then again, I do love mountains too, so who knows…
The animals are what the constellations resemble.
How much the nature of the sign supposedly connects
to the creature or thing can vary – Capricorn is actually
supposed to be a goat-fish hybrid I think – which would
make it a creature of . . . Waterfalls?
Ha! Well, I did not know that! Perfect – nothing like a waterfall in the middle of the desert under the hot sun
I’m with ya!
Great photos, Amy! Love the Eiffel Tower from it’s base with the sun shining through.
Dena, thanks. Sorry to take so long to reply – I’ve been taking a much needed break from the computer. Back at it today, though. Glad you enjoy the photos!
Great lines to go with the amazing pictures! you sure as hell are talented!
Why, thank you, Snitch!
Glad you stopped by!
Absolutely inspiring, Amy! The poetry is very moving. I’ve never thought to photograph the sun in such a way! I really enjoyed these photos, and would have loved to share this on Pinterest! You might think about putting some share settings on your blog so that your fans can rave about you on other platforms, too!
xoxo
Thank you, Frances. Glad you enjoyed. There is a share button ^up there – it has a drop down box next to it, so feel free to share as you like, where you like. Personally, I am being a little bit of a retroactive luddite these days…. the fewer platforms in my reality the better. Needing more real-time and less cyber-time for my mental health.
Love and hugs your way ~
Celebrate the inner luddite, Amy! Frankly, I’m very impressed with how active you are on your blog. Love and sunshine right back atchya!
This wasn’t one of my favorite challenges, and the sun is usually too brash and bright for me —
But you have it gently lighting up grayer skies in an altogether delightful post.
Ah, I love the sun in all forms.
Glad you enjoy the photos and the post, and I am glad to see you here!

Beautiful sun in so many ways. Great choices for weekly challenge.
BE ENCOURAGED! BE BLESSED!
Thanks. Just popped over and had a look at yours too… lovely!
Lovely shots – all so clear and peaceful, not a way we normally think of the sun
Thank you – glad you enjoyed them. I do think of the sun as peaceful…. but then, I am sort of a desert rat. Give me a rock in the sun and I will bask all day like a lizard
I love your first sun photo. It looks almost like an artist’s oil painting
Really? That’s a nice thought…. I sometimes wish I were a painter. I am so fascinated by light….
so glad to be reminded of the poem too …. the sun is a wonderful teacher shining on all of us alike, us no different to all of nature, which is how things are … love to see the eiffel tower looking so peaceful in your spring photos
Indeed, dadirri, indeed! Thank you for your comments.
And I forgot to say your pictures are beautiful. Especially the Eiffel Tower and the glorious diffraction you got there.
Thanks, Elspeth, for your kind comment on the photos. As for the poem ~ I don’t know if it has ever been set to music. If it has been, I’d love to hear it! I have seen it floating around the internet now and then. I recently saw a post that claimed it was not really written by Hafiz, but it is in the book of Hafiz poems as translated by Daniel Ladinsky, of which I have a copy, so…. there you go. Either way it’s beautiful. Glad you enjoy it – It is one of my favorites too.
thanks for reminding me of that poem – I am now trying to remember where I heard it before – I think set to music? Do you know?
Fantastic photos, I love the one of the Eiffel Tower bathed in that very golden light, we get a similar light on the trees here and it never fails to lift my heart.
Thanks, Victoria. Glad you stopped by to have a look. I love that gold light too… I agree, it is so uplifting!
Fantastic photos and sentiments…always love seeing your work.
Thank you, Kris. I am glad you came to see them, and thanks for the nice comment!
